Can Google Disrupt The Online Travel Industry? – Business Insider.

Google is still experimenting with its online travel ventures. It has now licensed Room 77’s hotel booking software. Room 77 is a start-up backed by Expedia (NASDAQ: EXPE) , one of the leading online travel agencies, or OTAs. Room 77 software might be just another of its experiments. This is on the heals of many travel initiative starting with hotel finder some years ago,

Remember Hotel Finder – Well it was just the tip of the future direction of Google Travel.

    Google Inc’s aggressiveness in this marrket is part of a long term strategy that will see company put more information on its own pages along with links to other sites. That’s crucial as users increasingly search for hotels on their smartphones with limited bandwidth and smaller screens.
